Bhikkhunī
A bhikkhunī is a fully ordained female monastic in the Buddhist tradition. In early Buddhism, the bhikkhunī saṅgha was established by the Buddha during his lifetime, beginning with Mahāpajāpati Gotamī, his aunt and foster mother.
